Dr. Ali is an Associate Professor with the Deptartment of Electrical Engineering at the University of South Carolina. His specializations and research interests include platform integrated antenna design for handheld terminals; engineered materials (metamaterials) and their antenna applications; reconfigurable, broadband and multiband antennas;  rectifying antennas (rectenna) for wireless sensors; power system monitoring and reconfiguration using distributed wireless sensors; electromagnetic energy deposition on humans from low power transmitters; and low loss microwave components and circuits. Dr. Ali graduated with a PhD., in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Victoria, BC, Canada, in 1997.
